Hi, I’m Jennifer Hutchinson.

As a Rock Hill School District mom and active member of this community, I have decided to run for school board to help ensure that district decisions and spending reflect the priorities and values of Rock Hill families.

Like most districts in York County, Rock Hill is in a season of growth and change, especially when it comes to our schools. Unlike most districts in York County, however, the needs of our Rock Hill community are unique.

I am running to be a voice for all Rock Hill families and educators, and to see to it that solutions for Rock Hill schools are Rock Hill focused.

My Why

When Our Students Win We All Win

Rock Hill School District has so much to be proud of and celebrate.

At the same time, the Rock Hill School Board has made decisions in recent years that leave our community feeling more concerned than confident that our children’s best interests are being prioritized and protected.

I am deeply committed to ensuring our students’ success and well-being are central to every single decision, every single time.

Meet Jennifer

Hi, I’m Jennifer Hutchinson, and I am running for the Rock Hill School Board, At-Large seat.

By trade, I am a Supply Chain Manager for MKS Atotech here in Rock Hill but the best job I ever received was mom to Barrett (9) and Parker (7). My husband "Hutch" and I have been married for over 11 years; he is a Rock Hill native and like him, I love being in Rock Hill! I graduated from Clemson University and Charleston Southern University (Go Tigers! and Go Bucs!) with degrees in Communication Studies and Supply Chain Management.

Through my community advocacy, I have a unique lens into the needs of the children of Rock Hill as well as others in our valued community.

It is important to me that service comes first in what I do and in turn what the School Board should do for our children. Currently, I serve on the School Improvement Council and PTO at Cherry Park Elementary School. I am the Social Action Chair for the Rock Hill Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. as well as the Community Service Chair for the Upper Palmetto Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.

I believe in Rock Hill and believe that this community has so much to offer.

I believe it takes a collaborative approach to support our children in reaching their goals. The decisions the Board makes should be reflective of our community and we should work to connect everyone in this community to make sure that our children have the foundation for success beyond their time in Rock Hill Schools.

I Love Rock Hill and am Invested in Our Community

Community, Collaboration, and Connection- for Our Children!

My Focus

Celebrating COMMUNITY

Solutions for Rock Hill Schools must be Rock Hill focused.

Our community is unique compared to others in York County

— We need to address the fact that closing schools closed a sense of community for many Rock Hill kids

— At the bare minimum, we need a school calendar that works for working families

Embracing COLLABORATION

Teachers and staff need to feel appreciated, respected, and trusted.

— Morale for teachers and staff must be prioritized, starting with getting back to basics in the classroom

— All of our educators deserve an opportunity to present feedback regularly to the school board

— Our teachers got a raise, our support staff deserve a raise, too

Emphasizing CONNECTION

The Rock Hill School Board must meet families where they are.

— Parents and families need better, more transparent communication, beyond just email

— When parents and teachers reach out, they should always receive a response from school board members

— Big, district-wide decisions should have buy-in from all key stakeholders

Centering Our CHILDREN

Our students must be at the center of every decision, every time.

— School should always feel like a place of safety and belonging

— Our students’ quality of education (and life!) must be at the heart of our decisions

Career and life readiness must be better prioritized to set our students up for success post-graduation

but I can’t do it alone!

I am in it to win it
